We've been acquainted with the chilly post-punk of Manchester duo the KVB for a while here at TMR, but this is our first experience of Saccades - the synth-pop solo project of Nicholas Wood. Distinctively lighter in atmosphere, new single 'Like Everyday' layers floaty, delayed synths with a groovy bass line and snappy drum machine-induced beats. Wood's cooly-delivered vocals enhance the subtle psychedelic vibe of the track- soft, hypnotic and not too dissimilar to those of Dutch psychedelic explorer Jacco Gardner. Lyrically touching on "the idea of someone living their life through watching another person's facade of luxury", the JG Ballard-inspired tune takes influence from his seminal work High-Rise.
